At least five people were stabbed or cut in the District on Wednesday, a day after another spate of violence that included attacks with knives, a deliveryman shot and a tourist threatened with a wooden beam.

None of the injuries over the past two days were believed to life-threatening, according to police, and arrests have been made in many of the cases. Most of the attacks involved people who knew each other and had been arguing, police said.

The violence on Wednesday included a man stabbed multiple times during a fight in the 4200 block of East Capitol St. SE, another man stabbed in the lower back during an argument in the 200 block of Atlantic St. SE., and a woman police said slashed her boyfriend’s arm with a knife during a dispute in the 100 block of 58th St. SE.

In Northeast, police said a man stabbed another man in the back in the 1300 block of New York Ave., and the mother of a young child stabbed the child’s father in the head in the 4200 block of 4th St. SE. Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police spokesman, said suspects were arrested in all five stabbings.

An arson fire occurred about 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1500 block of Anacostia Ave. NE, according to Alali, who said a juvenile set fire to a backyard shed. The juvenile was arrested and charged with arson, said Alali, who did not give a motive.

On Tuesday night, police sped to three stabbings and other crimes during a three-hour period between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

In Southeast, police said a man threatened three women with a gun but did not shoot or rob them. In Southwest, police said two men and a juvenile, all armed with guns, shot at two women. The bullets missed, and police said they arrested the juvenile.

The stabbings occurred in Northeast and Southeast, according to the spokesman, Alali. He said one man stabbed another several times in the body, a woman stabbed another woman in the abdomen and a man stabbed a woman in the stomach. Arrests were made in the latter two cases.

Alali said the robbery occurred a few minutes after 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Frederick Douglass Court, SE, near Alabama Avenue and Suitland Parkway. The police spokesman said the victim was delivering food for a restaurant when a man wearing a mask tried to rob him.

Alali said the attacker shot the victim in the leg and hand as he tried to run. The delivery man was recovering at a local hospital.

Police said the visitor was attacked about 10:40 p.m. near 1st and R streets, NW, near Truxton Circle. Alali said the victim, an adult male from Las Vegas, reported being approached by a man who threw a brick at him, and then threatened to hit him with a two-by-four.

Police arrested a 44-year-old man and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon. Alali could not provide a motive for the attack; he said the victim was not hurt.

The attack occurred two blocks from where four people were shot and wounded on Oct. 5 at North Capitol Street and New York Avenue, in a area police described as a open-air drug market.
