A District Heights man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault and armed robbery of two women in Suitland last month, Prince George’s County police said.

Philip James Fleming, 30, of the 2700 block of Lorring Avenue, has been charged with first-degree rape and armed robbery and is being held without bond, police reported.

Fleming is a suspect in two separate incidents that occurred in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road near Parkway Terrace Drive. In both cases, the women who were attacked were walking to the Suitland Metro station.

The first incident, according to police, took place about 4:45 a.m. Sept. 15, when a woman was groped and robbed at gunpoint.

The second allegedly occurred at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 27, when a woman was approached at gunpoint and sexually assaulted behind an abandoned building.

Both victims identified Fleming in a photo line-up, and Fleming was arrested Friday.

These are not the only recent attacks on women in Suitland. About 6:45 a.m. Oct. 4, police said a man with a gun approached another woman and tried to lead her across the street. The woman struggled and got away.

Police said detectives are investigating whether Fleming may have been involved in other assaults or robberies in the area.
