Suspect in custody after overnight stabbing in Northeast D.C.

A suspect is in custody in connection with an overnight stabbing in Northeast Washington, authorities announced Thursday.

Police said the stabbing took place about 1:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Benning Road.

Responding officers found the victim, who had been stabbed in the chest and back, lying in the middle of the road.

The victim was conscious and breathing, police said, and he was taken to a local hospital.

Police have not released details on the motive, the suspect, or the current condition of the victim.
