Suspect sought in Alexandria donut shop robbery

Police in Alexandria are looking for a man they say entered a Dunkin Donuts, displayed a handgun and made off with cash.

The man entered the store at 4653 Duke St. at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, according to police, and made off with money from the cash register after showing a handgun to an employee. The employee was unhurt, police said, and the suspect fled in a “small blue vehicle.”

Police release surveillance video of the man, who they described as a black male in his mid-twenties standing 5 feet 10 inches or 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing khaki pants and a light-colored plaid shirt during the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Chris Whelan at 703-746-6884.
