Teenager charged in Olney shooting

A teenager has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with a shooting in Olney, authorities said.

Daniel Alexander, 17, was arrested Tuesday after arriving at the 4th District police station in Montgomery County to provide information about the incident, police said.

According to officials, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on Monday in the 3900 block of Morningwood Drive in Olney.

Police said that three men were in a car at the location and, for still unknown reasons, one of the men shot another man in the car.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.

Detectives believe the incident may be drug-related, but the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

Paynter was identified as a suspect with the help of witness information, police said.

Paynter is charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and related assault and firearm charges.

He is currently being held without bond and is scheduled for a bond review at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Rockville.
