WINDSOR, Va. — Three adults in southeastern Virginia have been found guilty of misdemeanors for tying a 15-year-old girl to a tree and assaulting her with eggs and beer last month.

The Daily Press of Newport News reports that the three were found guilty Monday of one count each of misdemeanor assault and battery in Isle of Wight Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Attorneys for the three say they are appealing the convictions.

According to sheriff’s deputies, the defendants tied the teenager to a tree at a campground in Windsor, then doused her with beer and tossed eggs at her. No motive was provided.

An attorney for one of the accused claims the incident was the result of a “misunderstanding.”
