Toddler from Laurel nearly drowns in bathtub

A toddler nearly drowned Thursday night in the bathtub of her Laurel home, Prince George’s County fire officials said.

Family members called 911 and performed CPR on the girl after she was found under water in the tub, said Mark Brady, a county fire spokesman. Rescuers immediately responded to the home in the 1000 block of 10th Street about 7:15 and continued the emergency care and took the child to a hospital.

She was listed in critical condition late Thursday. Officials did not release the child’s age, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remained under investigation.
