A 28-year-old District man was shot and killed in Southeast early Friday morning, police said.

Christopher Emanuel Freeman, of Southeast, was found in an alley in the 300 block of 34th Street SE around 3:00 a.m. when police responded to the sound of gunshots, police said.

Freeman had been shot and emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

A second victim was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. Police did not say whether the victim's injuries were life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
