Two men arrested in 2007 killing in Northeast

D.C. police on Tuesday arrested two men in connection with a 2007 shooting death of a 27-year-old man in Northeast Washington.

Authorities said they have charged Charles Mason, 21, and Jekwon Smith, 21, both of Northeast, each with first-degree murder while armed. Both suspects could be arraigned Wednesday in D.C. Superior Court.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said the men are charged in the Oct. 29, 2007, shooting of Michael Antonio Pearson, who he said was hit by several bullets in the 2100 block of I St. Northeast.

Police did not give a motive in the killing.
