Two men shot in Southeast D.C.

Two men were shot, one in the chest, as they sat in a car on a Southeast Washington street Sunday night, D.C. police said.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, near Suitland Parkway.

Officer Anthony Clay, a D.C. spokesman, said a gunman opened fire into the vehicle, striking both of the men inside. The victims were being treated at an area hospital; their condition could not be ascertained, but Clay said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. He said one of the victims was struck multiple times.

Police had no description of the shooter.
