One man was shot and killed and another man shot and wounded early Friday morning after a dispute inside a Bowie restaurant spilled into the parking lot, authorities said.

Police were first tipped to the incident about 1:47 a.m., when someone from a local hospital called to report that the shooting victims had been dropped off there, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a Prince George’s County police spokesman. Copeland said that investigators determined the men were shot in a parking lot outside the T.G.I. Friday’s on Major Lansdale Boulevard, and someone had driven them to the hospital.

Copeland said investigators believe preliminarily that one of the two men got into an argument with another person inside the restaurant. That other person, he said, is believed to have shot the men once they went outside.

One of the men was pronounced dead, Copeland said, while the other’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Police did not immediately identify the victim.

Steve Coe, a T.G.I. Friday’s spokesman, said he did not know whether a dispute occurred inside the restaurant — and if so, what it was about — but he understood the actual shooting took place in an “adjacent location.” He said restaurant employees were cooperating with police.

Police are still searching for the shooter. It remains unclear what the dispute was about, Copeland said.
