HALLWOOD, Va. — A Virginia Beach police officer faces charges of stabbing two firefighters after he wrecked his car.

Warrants obtained by the Virginia State Police charge 23-year-old Bradley Colas with two counts of malicious wounding of an emergency medical care provider.

State police tell media outlets that Colas crashed his car into a tree in Hallwood about 6:42 a.m. Sunday. The firefighters were stabbed as they treated his injuries.

State police say Colas also pulled out a firearm and began shooting at rescue workers. He then tried to walk away from the scene before troopers stopped him.

The firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Colas remains under medical observation at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Northampton County.
