The Virginia state trooper killed Friday while responding to a call for help in King George County, was a 28-year-old from Warsaw, Va., the state police said.
Adam M. Bowen died instantly in the crash that injured two others, police said.
The impact forced Bowen's car to run off the road and hit a traffic light pole, said police. The car split in half, and the front end struck three parked cars in a nearby parking lot. Bowen was wearing a seat belt, police said.
The driver and a passenger in the Elantra suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, police said.
Bowen graduated in 2008 from the Virginia State Police Academy and has worked in King George and Caroline counties. Before joining the police force, he spent five years with the U.S. Air Force National Guard and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
