Va. trooper killed in crash

A Virginia state trooper was killed Friday evening while responding to a call for help, the state police said. Two other people were injured in the crash in King George County, police said.

The trooper was headed west on Route 3, about 6:45 p.m. when it entered the intersection with Madison Drive and collided with an eastbound car, the police said.

They said the t ran off the road and struck a traffic light pole. It split in two and the front part ran nto a parking lot where it struck three parked cars.

The driver and a passenger in the eastbound car suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, police said.
