Two men rob shoe store in Southeast

District police on Monday released a video and surveillance photographs showing an armed robbery of a Congress Heights shoe store, saying two men escaped with money and boxes of shoes.

Police said the men walked into the City Beats store in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE on Thursday about 6:10 p.m.

The video shows the two men inside the shop, at least one armed with a gun stuffed in the right side of his jeans. The man is seen holding the but of the gun as he walked by a man who appears to be customer sitting on a bench.

The camera doesn’t show the actual robbery, just the backs of the men at the register. It does show the second man police are looking for walking back through the store counting money.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction. Tipsters can call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099 or text 50411..
