William Santiago charged in July killing

A Manassas Park man has been charged in connection with the killing of a Guatemalan man who died from injuries sustained in an April assault in Fairfax County, police said.

William Santiago, 29, will face a charge of unlawful wounding in the death of 42-year-old Amadeo Guerra-Giron, Fairfax County police said.

On April 29, officers were called to the 3000 block of Virginia Dare Court in Chantilly for a report of an assault, police said. Officers located an injured Guerra-Giron in the nearby woods, and he was transported to a local hospital, police said.

Investigators identified Santiago, who is an acquaintance of Guerra-Giron, as the suspect in the case, police said.

In May, Guerra-Giron was transferred under medical care to his home country of Guatemala, and he died on July 23 from his injuries, police said.
