A 31-year-old woman was attacked as she walked along the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Reston on Tuesday around 7 p.m., Fairfax County police said.

The woman entered the trail off Reston Ave. and was near the overpass with Herndon Parkway when she noticed a man following her, police said.

The man dragged the woman off the path into a wooded area near Sunset Hills Road, police said. The victim struggled with her attacker, and he eventually fled north onto a gravel horse trail, police said.

The victim did not require medical attention.

The attacker was described as heavy set and about 25-years-old. He was clean shaven and had short black hair. He was wearing glasses, a dark jacket and dark jeans.

Police urged anyone considering walking on more secluded paths to do so with a friend.
