Woman dies in morning crash on I-270 in Maryland

A driver was killed on Interstate 270 Tuesday morning after losing control of her red Scion and striking a concrete barrier near the Shady Grove exit in Montgomery County, according to the Maryland State Police. No one else was injured.

The wreck occurred about 5:15 a.m. The main southbound lanes were closed while troopers investigated the scene. Local lanes stayed open.

All lanes were reopened by 7:55 a.m., said Cpl. Cameron Gibson, a trooper at the state police Rockville barracks.

Officials said they would release the driver’s name when they are sure her family has been notified.
