Woman fatally stabbed in Southeast

District police are investigating the early Wednesday stabbing death of a 29-year-old woman in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to a department spokesman.

D.C. Officer Anthony Clay said the stabbing occurred about 4:10 a.m. in the 3200 block of 13th St. SE, near the Congress Heights Metro stop and just off Alabama Avenue SE.

Police said the woman was pronounced dead at a hospital. The victim’s name was not immediately released pending notification of relatives.

Lt. Robert Alder, commander of the homicide unit, said the woman was found stabbed in a hallway of an apartment complex in which she lives.
