Couple fatally shot in Chillum

Updated, 9:05 p.m.

The man who was found critically injured earlier Friday afternoon has died, Prince George’s County police said. Police are investigating the possibility that the incident was a murder-suicide. The couple were romantically involved, police said.

A woman was found dead and man critically injured Friday afternoon on a Chillum area street, Prince George’s County police said.

Police received a call that a wounded man lay next to a vehicle with a gun beside him in the 600 block of Ray Road about 2:45 p.m., said Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a spokesman. When officers arrived, they found the man and gun and a woman dead inside the car with apparent gunshot wounds, he said.

The man was taken to a hospital with critical wounds to the upper body, he said.

Police were still trying to identify the man and woman and their relationship to each other. Authorities were investigating to determine if the incident may have been a murder-suicide or they were attacked by another assailant.

No further details were available.
