Woman killed in single-car NE crash

A woman was killed and another woman was left in critical condition in a single-car crash early Saturday morning in Northeast, police said Sunday.

District police said a silver 2003 Hyundai that was traveling southbound in the 100 block of Division Avenue at about 1:35 a.m. veered off the road at the intersection of Ames Street. Police said the car hit a wooden light pole, spun and slammed into a brick retaining wall.

An adult woman in the front passenger seat was found dead at the scene. Emergency crews took to the driver, also an adult female, to a local hospital, where she remained in critical condition Sunday. Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
