A woman was sexually assaulted at gunpoint in Northeast Washington Tuesday morning, D.C. police said.

According to officials, the woman was approached by an unknown man riding a bicycle while she was walking in the 4400 block of Gault Place NE around 6:40 a.m.

The man allegedly pulled out a handgun and forced the woman to the rear of a house, where he sexually assaulted her. The victim then fled from the suspect and called police, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 21- to 22-years-old, 5’6” tall and 140 pounds. Police said he had a cut under his left eye, shoulder-length dreadlocks, no facial hair, and was wearing a black coat with a red symbol on the front, light blue jeans and black shoes. He was riding a mountain bike.
