Woman stabbed on Metrobus in Southeast

An 18-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another woman on a Metrobus in Southeast on Sunday afternoon, a spokesman for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Chesapeake Streets SE, on an A8 bus headed to the Anacostia Metro station, WMATA spokesman Dan Stessel said. There were other passengers on the bus at the time, Stessel said.

The stabbing victim suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, Stessel said. The suspect, also believed to be 18, ran off the bus after the incident. Police will be reviewing camera footage from the inside of the bus as they search for a suspect, he said.
