Woodbridge bank robbe, Russell Culbreth, caught in North Carolina, police say

A suspect in bank robberies in three states, including Virginia, was caught Tuesday in a North Carolina city after a robbery there, according to police.

Russell F. Culbreth, 34, of West Virginia, was charged with robbing a bank on Saturday in Prince William County. Around 10 a.m. that day, police responded to the 14000 block of Smoketown Road in Woodbridge for a report of a robbery at Burke and Herbert Bank.

The suspect, police say, passed a note to a teller and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Working with the FBI, police said they tracked Culbreth to Fayetteville, N.C., where he was apprehended after a bank robbery there. Culbreth will be extradited back to Prince William County for an April 17 court date, police said.

Culbreth was also being sought for a bank robbery that occurred in West Virginia, police say.
