Ward 5 residents will get a chance to discuss the future of public schools in their community with school system officials later this month. A meeting for what the District calls the “Ward 5 Great Schools Initiative” will be held Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Luke C. Moore High School, 1001 Monroe St. NE.

Chancellor Kaya Henderson agreed to launch a review process for Ward 5 schools after residents raised concerns about the lack of a stand-alone middle school, as well as the quality of the Pre-K-8 campuses that serve middle schoolers in the community.

The meeting is sponsored by the DCPS Office of Family and Public Engagement. DCPS asks that those planning to attend RSVP to Marie Woodward-Graves at 202-719-6601 or marie.woodwardgraves@dc.gov.
