One was from a pro wrestling message board thread, speculating on the ways a wrestler could turn the crowd against him.
The other was from a Redskins message board thread, as the Skins were searching for a coach to replace Joe Gibbs. They wound up with Jim Zorn.
Thanks to Clinton Portis, that will no longer be the case. The running back sent out this Tweet Thursday evening, a few hours after his retirement ceremony at Redskins Park.
Best owner in sports, great mentor and friend much respect for MR SNYDER twitter.com/TheRealC_Porti…— Clinton Portis (@TheRealC_Portis) August 23, 2012
Portis is never afraid to stake out unusual positions, as we learned during his radio career. This would qualify.
Portis and Snyder also praised each other at length during Thursday’s press conference. Snyder called Portis “a Hall of Fame running back,” adding that he’s “someone I know very well, and I’m proud to call him my friend and a great Redskin.”
Portis, meanwhile, talked about the first time he met Snyder without knowing who the owner was, calling him “a little short man who was cocky , and he had the stance like this [puffing out chest], and lo and behold, it turned out to be Mr. Snyder.”
