D.C. United’s brain trust has been offering regular blog posts in recent weeks about changes to the club for this season. One recent post focused on improvements in the game-day experience. It included this passage:
Areas of focus in the RFK Stadium concourse include accessible TD Bank ATMs, new and improved team merchandise stations as well as improved concession offerings courtesy of Centerplate. Stadium officials have recently come to an agreement with the highly respected food service company to provide food and beverage throughout RFK Stadium in the season ahead.
Now, if the Nats or Caps were promising improved concession offerings, 14 bloggers would immediately demand the entire menu, with samples and caloric information. I figured I should at least attempt to get my hands on a list of new and improved concession offerings.
Anyhow, here’s the list of new items, provided by United:
* Spanish sausage
* BBQ nachos
* PepperJack Tornados and Southwest Chicken Tornados
* Specialty Dogs (Texas Dog, Spanish Dog, Detroit Dog, Chicago Dog)
* Rita’s water ice
* Souvenir soda cups, in two sizes
* Braided pretzels
* Worlds largest gummy bear
* Gummy bears on a stick
In the course of this quest, I was told by United officials that the prices of at least some draft beers will be lowered to $7 this season. Without having a full list of last year’s beer prices or pouring sizes, it’s hard for me to guarantee cheaper beer, but I’d be curious to receive some firsthand reports after Saturday’s opener.
