Longwood University has a new fight song

I don’t really know much about Longwood University, except it’s a Division I school in Virginia, and they send good press releases.

That led me to blog about their new mascot a year ago this week, a horsey fella who was subsequently named “Elwood.” And it now leads me to blog about the school’s “brand new Fight Song,” which was unveiled “during the pep rally in Willett Hall prior to The G.A.M.E. 3.0 (Greatest Athletics March Ever) for the women’s soccer home match against VCU,” according to a press release.

Rob Blankenship, ‘00, created the new fight song, which is called “Hail to Longwood U!” It’s the first official fight song in Longwood history.

Hail to Longwood U.

Hail to Longwood U.

Oh, we are Lancers proud and Lancers true,

We fight for the white and blue.

There’s also a video, above, and a bunch of humorous outtakes, below. I love every part of all of this. Can’t wait for all the #HTLU hashtags on Twitter.
