The Washington Post

Morning pixels:

Getting all the team owners and executives together on the same day can pose a challenge, so their availability comes in to play. Officials also like the photo to accurately depict who was on the team each year. During the course of the season, players get released, traded and designated. The roster on August 30 is pretty much your final list. Think about what the Phillies team photo would look like before this year’s trade deadline and after.

Unfortunately this year’s Nats photo will be missing one very important guy.

Gio Gonzalez missed Thursday’s photo session because his parents are in town and he was spending time with them.

“I’m never going to live this down,” he told me. “I got a call at [3 p.m.] saying ‘Hey, you know we have our team photo?’ and I was like ‘Oh, I knew I forgot something.’ ”

As for Gio, who told me this would definitely land him in Kangaroo court, he has a plan.

“That’s why we have Photoshop,” he said. “They can pop me right in there.”

BECAUSE YOU DON’T READ THE PAPER...
* Redskins prospects are just waiting out the final cuts.

* Edwin Jackson pitched one heck of a game last night.

* Boz on Bryce Harper and the battle between his talent and his temper.

* Virginia Tech football is all about defense this year.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Jayson Werth on Edwin Jackson:

“People keep talking about Stras. Edwin Jackson is a heck of a pitcher. He’s a big-game pitcher. Take Stras out and put Edwin in, I like it.”
