Morning pixels: Redskins to preview Nike alternates next week

But there was this, from @HogsHaven: “Brian Orakpo tells Hogs Haven that there is an alternate jersey we have yet to see.”

The wait will end next week, when the team is holding an “80th Anniversary Kickoff” event. It’s a private affair, but among the features are “a preview of the new Nike Redskins throwback uniform.”

Seems to me that a few Skins fans might be interested in the results.

Jason Reid defends the Kirk Cousins pick. Yes, I'm as shocked as you are.

Karl Alzner on the Game 3 philosophy: “Don’t get fancy.”

D.C. United midfielder Danny Cruz on his father, who has served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Davey Johnson compares Bryce Harper to Mickey Mantle.

Tom Boswell is fairly excited about the Harper Era.

Will Harper be great? Don’t know. But he’s 1st I’ve seen who could probably make MLB at all NINE positions Throws 96. Was catcher. SS, yup.

Nene on being in D.C.

“I thought the city was going to be the same way like New York, like L.A., crazy, fast tempo. I don’t like this kind of city. But it’s different. It’s a small city. It’s a nice, international city. They have nice suburbs. I just need to learn the streets. Alphabet streets. Maybe I’ll be fine to drive.”

Bryce Harper seems to be popular with the media. See how many D.C. sports media members you can name. (Getty.)

The Nats host Arizona again at 7 on MASN2. The Orioles are in New York at 7 on MASN. The Caps play on NBC Sports Network at 7:30. And D.C. United is in San Jose at 10:30 on CSN Plus. All TV/Radio listings are here.

Puck Daddy on Dale Hunter: “I’m baffled. I don’t know if Dale Hunter is the NHL coaching equivalent of Chance the Gardener or if he’s established a new paradigm for how the Capitals are to win in the playoffs. I can’t figure out if he’s lucked into success or if there’s a method to his madness.”

The Nats haven’t won since they were featured in Sports Illustrated.

Amazing stuff from the archives on Walter Johnson’s debut.

The wackiest thing going, if you haven’t heard, concerns Sarah Phillips and ESPN. The Deadspin stuff is amazing, but the Willy Wonka stuff takes it to another level of bizarre.
