Video: The Caps’ rise to prominence

Comcast SportsNet is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its news division this week, which means a top 10 list of the biggest sports stories in CSN’s existence. No. 9 was the Caps’ rise to prominence, which is lower than I ranked this story on my decade retrospective, but whatever.

The point is, unlike me, CSN has amazing footage from every step of this rise, which makes this video great. Top moments: the screaming crowd of Jaromir Jagr fans, Ted Leonsis saying “you can’t win in the offseason, you have to win during the regular season,” Al Koken saying “fans, this is the man you’ll be building a franchise around” as he interviews Alex Ovechkin, and Bruce Boudreau looking like a hayseed during his first game in Washington. Definitely worth three minutes of your time.
