When Todd Coffey entered the Nats game Tuesday night, the good guys trailed by a run but had lost their pseudo-ace Jordan Zimmermann after just five innings. Coffey recorded two outs, then let a run score on a single-walk-single sequence.

Not the world’s worst relief appearance, but not up to Coffey’s standards, apparently. He retaliated by throwing a towel at a cooler of sports beverage, and then flinging said cooler to the ground, almost taking out Jerry Hairston’s legs, or at least making them wet.

“That’s some strong coffee right there,” F.P. Santangelo observed.

Still, at least Coffey didn’t spark the ire of Davey Johnson, who spent much of his post-game interview calling out Zimmermann.
