MARC delays after pedestrian is struck by train in Gaithersburg

MARC passengers are facing delays this morning after a freight train struck a pedestrian on CSX tracks, officials said.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, the accident took place shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the 17000 block of Oakmont Avenue, near the Washington Grove MARC stop.

The victim is reported to be alive, but no information about the victim’s identity or condition has been released.

The train is stopped on the tracks, with rescue crews and police on the scene. Train traffic is expected to be affected.
