Heat could lead to more MARC, VRE delays

The sweltering heat that continues to broil the region will be joined by thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, according to the Capital Weather Gang. If you’re heading home via commuter rail, the heat could lead to some delays.

Some MARC and VRE trains will be traveling at reduced speeds due to the heat. For MARC riders on the Camden and Brunswick lines, there could be delays of between five and 15 minutes. VRE riders on the Fredericksburg Line will encounter delays between 1 and 7 p.m.
