Heavy traffic expected on the Bay Bridge

Drivers who take the Bay Bridge should expect to hit a little extra congestion this weekend. Sunfest runs from Thursday to Sunday in Ocean City, and as a result more traffic is expected.

The Maryland Transportation Authority will monitor traffic conditions and, weather permitting, implement two-way movement on the westbound span to help ease eastbound delays.

Visit to view traffic cameras or call 1-877-BAYSPAN (1-877-229-7726) for the latest Bay Bridge traffic conditions.

Drivers are also encouraged to travel at off-peak times. The best times, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority:

— Thursday before 2 p.m.

— Friday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.

— Saturday before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m.

— Sunday before 11 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
