The District Department of Transportation plans to do some work this weekend on the 14th Street Bridge, and this will involve lane closings starting tonight. Here’s the schedule.
Lane closings are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Friday and continue through 5 a.m. Monday. DDOT said construction crews will start with double lane closings overnight, moving to single lane closings by 5 a.m. Saturday. The workers will install compression seals on joints along the bridge surface.
Lane closures will start on the left side of the bridge and migrate right as the work is completed.
The right lane of the northbound span will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The closure will start on the Virginia side of the operator’s tower. Drivers entering the bridge from the northbound George Washington Parkway will need to merge left almost immediately.
This lane closing will help create a safe zone for work on one of the bridge piers.
