Metro could get more federal funding for safety and system improvement

Metro could get another $150 million in federal funding as part of the House Appropriations Committee’s fiscal 2013 funding bill for transportation.

The transit agency has received several rounds of federal funding to help deal with rebuilding its rundown system and improve safety.

The latest round of funding will be considered Thursday in a subcommittee.

Last year, House Republicans initially didn’t include such funding for Metro and the Senate pushed to get it back in.
