Metro extends closing times for Caps’ OT thriller

Metro officials extended the closing time for final trains early Thursday morning due to the triple overtime thriller between the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers at the Verizon Center.

All fans were told to use the Gallery Place station after leaving the arena, officials said on Twitter. The final Orange and Blue line trains were expected to head toward New Carrollton and Vienna at 1:05 a.m., and toward Franconia and Largo at 1:06 a.m.

Trains heading to Branch Avenue were expected to leave at 12:55a.m.; to Glenmont at 1:08 a.m.; to Greenbelt at 1:16 a.m.; to Huntington at 12:57 a.m. and Shady Grove at 1:02 a.m.

The Capitals lost 2-1.
