Metro Red Line delayed by third rail problem

Red Line trains were being delayed by as much as 20 minutes during the Friday evening rush period after a problem was reported on the tracks near Medical Center, authorities said.

Metro officials said trains were single tracking around the area, and that service all along the line was being affected.

The problem involved the third rail, which supplies power to the trains, according to Metro.
