Metro officials are warning bus riders to expect delays Friday as they travel in Northern Virginia because of the motorcycle memorial ride.

The 5A bus, which runs from Dulles to points in Rosslyn and to L’Enfant Plaza, is expected to have “significant delays” this afternoon, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.

Northern Virginia roads, including Interstate 66 eastbound from the Beltway to Route 110 and Route 110 southbound from I-66 to the Pentagon, are going to be shutdown for the motorcycle ride to commemorate the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Stessel said Metro is putting extra buses on the 5A route to “compensate for the expected delays.” Buses will be tied up in traffic, he said.

“If we didn’t add buses, people would be waiting at Dulles for service,” he said.

Washington Flyer has suspended its bus service this afternoon from Dulles so the Metrobus 5A route is “going to be your only option,” Stessel said.

The ride can be tracked online.
