South Dakota Avenue remains closed between 18th and 20th streets in Northeast Washington due to a water main break. Expect serious problems in the surrounding area. The closure is expected to last until at least the early afternoon.
Expect delays around Capitol Hill due to police activity on Pennsylvania Avenue and First Street NW, according to the District Department of Transportation. Avoid the area if you can.
The D.C. Fire Department is responding to a report of a possible gas leak in the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue in Southeast Washington. Again, avoid the area if you can.
There’s some debris on the outer loop of the Beltway at Kenilworth Avenue, so expect to encounter some congestion.

8:20 A.M. Update:
A disabled vehicle on Military Road at Nebraska Avenue in Northwest Washington could cause some delays there.
8:15 A.M. Update:
I-95 North is very jammed up around the Springfield Interchange.
8:05 A.M. Update:
The 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue remains blocked, but everything else has reopened, according to the District Department of Transportation.
8 A.M. Update:
Police activity in the Capitol Hill area has closed First Street NW between Garfield Circle and Constitution Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue SE between First and Third streets SE. Avoid the area.
7:50 A.M. Update:
Lots of headaches for Virginia commuters this morning, which include: delays on I-95 North (in Woodbridge and Lorton), on I-66 East (at Chain Bridge Road), on I-395 North (at the 14th Street Bridge) and the inner loop of the Beltway (approaching the Springfield Interchange).
7:35 A.M. Update:
The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the outer loop of the Beltway before University Boulevard.
There is a disabled vehicle at Connecticut and Nebraska avenues in Northwest Washington. Expect some delays there.
Watch out for an accident at South Dakota Avenue and Jefferson Street in Northeast Washington.
7:25 A.M. Update:
An accident on the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge could severely snarl traffic heading into Washington from Virginia.
A reader reported an accident on the right shoulder of eastbound Dulles Toll Road before the Route 7 exit. Expect some related delays.
7:15 A.M. Update:
A disabled vehicle on I-95 North near the Fairfax County Parkway is blocking the right shoulder. There are heavy delays approaching this spot.

I-95 North is pretty snarled around the Fairfax County Parkway.

The accident on the outer loop to the west of Connecticut Avenue has been cleared from the shoulder.
Now there’s a disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway before University Boulevard.
