8:35 A.M. Update:

All lanes are open again on New York Avenue in Northeast Washington, but there are very heavy delays approaching Bladensburg Road.

A disabled vehicle in the northbound Third Street Tunnel will likely slow traffic there.

I-395 North remains backed up approaching the 14th Street Bridge.

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Dulles Toll Road is blocking the right lane.

There’s also a disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at Colesville Road, though it’s unclear if it is blocking any lanes.

8:15 A.M. Update:

All lanes have finally reopened on New York Avenue NE in both directions. An accident near 9th Street earlier this morning severely snarled traffic, closing all eastbound lanes for a stretch and blocking multiple westbound lanes until just now. Expect residual delays.

An accident at 11th Street and Florida Avenue NW could slow traffic there.

Expect delays stemming from an accident on Georgia Avenue and Barry Place NW.

8 A.M. Update:

Two of three westbound lanes are still blocked on New York Avenue NE near 9th Street NE. All eastbound lanes are open. Expect big problems approaching this area no matter which direction.

A vehicle fire on U.S. 50 at Route 197 is blocking one westbound lane and one of the shoulders.

An accident on Nebraska Avenue and Rockwood Parkway NW could cause delays there.

The D.C. Fire Department is on the scene in the 500 block of M Street in Northeast Washington. Try to avoid that immediate area.

7:40 A.M. Update:

Watch out for delays stemming from accidents on New Jersey Avenue at E Street NW and at 22nd and P streets NW.

Fire trucks are reportedly blocking the Calvert Street Bridge, so avoid that area right now.

7:20 A.M. Update:

All lanes are open again on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard. That being said, there are still heavy delays approaching this stretch due to the earlier lane closures.

Only one westbound lane is open on New York Avenue NE near 9th Street NE. All eastbound lanes are open, albeit seriously backed up.

7 A.M. Update:

Update on New York Avenue between 9th Street and Montana Avenue: The eastbound lanes are all open and moving again. One westbound lane has reopened, while the others remain blocked.

The situation on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard has worsened. Only the far left lane is getting by for regular traffic, while traffic coming on from the ramp is also moving without any issues into the right lanes. This is causing severe delays for northbound traffic.

6:40 A.M. Update:

Two lanes are blocked on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard due to the car in the center lane. An ambulance, fire truck and police cars are on the scene blocking two lanes.

6:35 A.M. Update:

The accident on New York Avenue between 9th Street and Montana Avenue is still blocking all westbound lanes. Only the far right lane is open on the eastbound side.

The accident on the northbound 14th Street Bridge has been cleared and all lanes reopened.

A stopped car on I-395 North around Washington Boulevard is blocking the center lane. It’s unclear if this is a disabled car or the result of an accident, but traffic is really slowing down to get around this spot.

6:25 A.M. Update:

If you need to head from Virginia into D.C. right now, avoid the 14th Street Bridge. The accident on the northbound 14th Street Bridge is blocking the left three lanes, leaving only the far right lane open. All traffic is slowly making its way to the far right lane, though after this spot traffic flows smoothly. The delays stretch back onto I-395 North, which is already snarled.

6:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on New York Avenue at Kendall Street NE is blocking all inbound lanes. And only one outbound lane is getting by this scene. Avoid this area.

An accident on the inbound 14th Street Bridge is likely to slow traffic heading from Virginia into D.C.
