New traffic pattern for I-295 repairs

The District Department of Transportation plans to shift traffic on southbound Interstate 295 between Howard Road and the Suitland Parkway this weekend to accommodate highway bridge repairs.

The work zone, which is now in the center lane, will shift to the right, and all southbound traffic will use the two left lanes during the next phase of work, DDOT said.

Workers are scheduled to begin moving the construction barriers at 6 a.m. Saturday. They should be done with that by 10 a.m. During this four-hour phase, southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, so delays are very likely.
