Prince George’s police plan to conduct a special DUI enforcement action from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday in the central portion of the county.

The effort will be led by the Special Operations Division. A spokesman said the effort will target communities in the general area of Bowie and Upper Marlboro. Drivers should be on the alert for DUI checkpoints.

“Our goal is to enforce state laws and save lives,” Major Kevin Putnam, commander of the Special Operations Division, said in a statement. “This effort is about saving lives and preventing the kinds of tragedies that we see all too often on our roadways, thus creating a safe environment for motorists and pedestrians.”
