Public meeting on Georgia Ave. changes in Silver Spring

Do you travel on the stretch of Georgia Avenue/MD 97 between 16th Street and Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring? Do you utilize this 0.7-mile slice of road and care about any potential changes that could be made to enhance mobility, promote safety and accommodate any transit enhancements?

The aptly named MD 97 (Montgomery Hills) Project Planning Study is assessing safety and accessibility on this very space. Members of the public will get a chance to learn about anticipated improvements and changes in a public meeting that will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The meeting will include display areas showing potential changes, while Maryland State Highway Administration representatives will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.

The meeting will take place at Woodlin Elementary School (2010 Luzerne Ave., Silver Spring), just west of where Georgia Avenue and 16th Street meet.

This will be an informal meeting, so there won’t be any set presentation. Feel free to check things out at your leisure. You can learn more about the project here.
