1 hurt in shooting near Anacostia Metro stop

D.C. Metro police said a “male is conscious and breathing” after being shot near the Anacostia Metro station. The incident happened at 4:17 p.m.

Metro chief spokesman Dan Stessel said the incident was not at the Metro station and is not on the property. It was reported in the 1100 block of Howard Road SE.

“A guy got shot a couple of blocks away from the station and went to the station for help,” Stessel said.

He said Metro did not anticipate any delays in service because of the incident.

However, the D.C. Circulator warned customers on its Potomac/Skyland route that there may be delays of 20 to 25 minutes because of the police investigation near the Anacostia station.
