Rebecca Innocenti, a Montgomery County Police spokeswoman, said “we believe there’s some connection between the suspect and at least one of the victims.”

Innocenti said a suspect is in custody and that police have recovered a handgun. She said a second possible suspect is still being sought and two people were injured. Both people suffered non-life threatening injuries. A male was shot in the leg and a female was grazed.

Metro riders can enter the station on the west side, but the east side is closed off. Trains are running on a normal schedule as are buses in the area. About 20 detectives and officers are outside the station. Rockville City Police are taking the lead on the investigation and Montgomery County Police are assisting.

The shooting unfolded at about 2:30 p.m. at the station, which is near the county government center and Richard Montgomery High School.
