A rare October snow event, accompanied by heavy rain Saturday morning, is leading to slick roads in some parts of the region.

A number of car accidents have been reported in the western part of Loudoun County, according to an official with the sheriff’s office, who urged motorists to take extra caution.

The National Weather Service forecasts up to three inches in Leesburg and seven inches in Frederick.Less than once inch of snow and sleet is expected to fall in the District.
