Updated: 3:40 p.m .: The overnight closing has been rescheduled for Monday night, so New York Avenue will remain open tonight.

Original post:

A friendly reminder: New York Avenue NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue is closing overnight. It will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday.

Westbound/inbound traffic will be detoured at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue before being allowed back on New York Avenue. Eastbound/outbound traffic will be diverted at Florida Avenue to 6th Street and Penn Street before being allowed back to New York Avenue.

Traffic control officers will be on the scene at the beginning and end of these detours, according to the District Department of Transportation. But you should expect some delays if you’re heading that way. Try using Rhode Island Avenue or H Street instead.

The roadway will also be closed at 10 p.m. on June 29, and reopened at 11 a.m. the following morning..

These closures are both part of the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
