Virginia Railway Express and the Brunswick and Camden Lines of the Maryland Area Regional Commuter train service are operating under heat restrictions due to concerns that heat could kink the rails.

Virginia riders may experience delays of five to 10 minutes. MARC riders could face slower trips of 5 to 15 minutes.

Track components can expand, contract or shift in severe heat or temperature swings, necessitating slower rates of travel. Railroads also dispatch inspectors to monitor rail conditions.
